One might wonder about the implications of artificial life. Someone who was not conceived, gestated, born and raised, but instead created, or built, as an adult... would that person really be a person? Would there be a soul within, or just a mundane husk of flesh, condemned to oblivion? What would be the ethical concerns of creating sentient life out of genetic samples and advanced biotechnology? In a more pragmatic level, what would be the social implications of canister-born humans? What would they inherit, what would their rights be? Would they have any freedom, could they be simply created to be slaves for the betterment of those who were truly born? Would they even be considered "human"?
The answer to all those questions? We will only know if we survive long enough to ask time itself that question. Meanwhile, we will just build the canisters and hope they don't breed our own damnation.
